Pick, Gabriel (1817) [ b. c. 1817, Pacov, Bohemia - d. 1.5.1865, Kojetice 24, Bohemia ]
Gabriel was the second of the four so-far identified children of Markus and Marie (née Guthová) Pick of Pacov, and my 3rd-great grandfather. The 1817 birthdate is an estimate based on the sole existing familiant record for his father's family. According to the birth records of Markus's children, he was a "Getreidehändler" - a grain trader or merchant. He married Theresia Pachnerová on 3 July 1849 at the Pacov Synagogue. Together the couple had five children. Between the 1849 birth of their first child and the 1852 birth of their second, the family moved from Pacov to Kojetice u Prahy. There are many possible reasons for such a move, but the repeal of the Familianten restrictions - and thus the freedom to live anywhere, more or less - was probably a major factor. It appears the family remained in Kojetice at least until Markus's passing. Markus died from tuberculosis and was buried in the Kostelec nad Labem Jewish cemetery.

Note there is a separate but related family from Pacov whose patriarch was also named Gabriel Pick - not to be confused with this Gabriel. There are a great many Picks in that area and in Bohemia writ large, so I've been especially conservative in identifying family members and drawing conclusions about relationships.

Pick, Markus [ b. c. 1778, Pacov or Hartvíkov (near Pacov), Bohemia - d. 21.2.1837, Pacov, Bohemia ]
Markus was one of an unknown number of children of Moses and Ludmilla (née unknown) Pick, and was my 4th-great grandfather. This birthdate is an estimate based on the 1799 Tábor-area Jewish census. The sole existing familiant record suggests he was not an only child - it gives his consensus date (the ability to marry) as 10 June 1820 or 1826 (difficult to tell whether it's a zero or a six), while his oldest listed child in the same record was born in 1815. My interpretation of this disparity is that he was not the first-born son and that he "inherited" familiant status from either his father or an elder brother. Additionally his son Moises was born in 1820, which also suggests his father had passed away by that time, also supporting the 1820 consensus date. Usually a new familiant status was granted/transferred after the death of the former familiant, but it also could have been a transfer of status from another family - for example, one which only had daughters. The same familiant record lists his wife as Marie née Guth, and names four sons, but I'd guess they had more children.

Picková, Salie [ b. 14.11.1849, Pacov 266, Bohemia - d. 25.3.1913, Brandýs nad Labem 44, Bohemia ] Obituary, Prager Tagblatt, 27 March 1913 Obituary, Prager Tagblatt, 27 March 1913
Salie was the eldest of five known children of Gabriel and Theresia (née Pachnerová) Pick, and was also my great-great grandmother. She married my great-great grandfather Josef Oesterreicher in Kojetice - probably at her parents' home - on 27 July 1869. Together they had at least nine children, including a set of twin girls who died as newborns. For her adult life it appears she lived in Brandýs with her husband and most of the family. She passed away at home at 2:30 a.m. from a cranial haemmorhage.
